    I think it depend on the state of your new residency. Why not try to go to the nearest registration office because in Wisconsin, new laws say that for Wisconsin citizens, voting needs an identification card issued by a state bureau. I read it here: Free voter ID very difficult to obtain for some in Wisconsin. But I am not assuming that all the states follow the same rule.
